Welcome to Pete's Crumball Rally Site

What it's all about

James Bond pierced through the picturesque Swiss Alps in a sleek, stylish Aston Martin.

Now Peter Wade and Bill Harris from Chelmsford, Essex are retracing some of the super spy’s tracks – but travelling 2,000 miles in a £200, 18 year old Nissan Sunny And they are hoping that the car stays in one piece to leave them neither shaken nor stirred as they attempt to complete the Crumball Rally’s 007-themed Thundercrawl event.

The three-day challenge will take us from Boulogne in France to Venice.
We travel to Boulogne on Thursday 27, along with 70 other teams for the event which starts on September 28 and in the process hope to raise £1,000 for, Against Breast Cancer. The first day of the rally, which is not a race, is a 500-mile drive through France, Belgium and Luxembourg en route to a lake side Swiss town, aptly named Spiez.

Day two will take them through the Alps, stopping off at Blofeld’s mountain-top lair from Her Majesty’s Secret Service – now a famous revolving restaurant – before driving over the stunning Furka pass, where Goldfinger was chased in the iconic Aston Martin DB5 then to the scenic shores of Lake Maggiore in Italy.
Day three starts at the Verdaska Dam – scene of the death-defying bungee jump at the beginning of Goldeneye – before heading towards Venice, scene of Casino Royale and the powered gondola chase from Moonraker.

Those who make it to the end will be able to enjoy a cool vodka martini at an awards party.

The car has had a service thanks to Bill and we are confident she is good for the trip, but only time will tell whether it is up for the cruelling journey through the Swiss Alps.
